A. Library Rules Regarding Book Bank

1. Entitlement
  • All the students of the University are entitled to become members and can draw books from the Book Bank.
  • Membership to the Library/Book Bank will be granted completing the prescribed application form (obtainable from Library) and payment of the non-refundable membership fee as under: Undergraduate & Postgraduate classes: Rs.150/-
2. Amount of Rent
  • The rent will be charged at the rate of Rs. 20/- per month per book.
3. Period of Loan
  • Books (prescribed in the course) could be loaned for a period varying from one month to a semester of the prescribed rental charges.
4. Delay Fine
  • A delay fine will be charged from students keeping the book or books beyond the prescribed period at the rate of Rs.5/- per day per book. However, in case of closure of the University for a period exceeding ten days only normal rent will be charged in lieu of the delay fine. The Librarian/Principal Officer may, at his discretion can reduce the delay fine incurred by a borrower upto 10 to 40% only in case of deserving/poor students.
    OR
    If delay fine of the book is greater than price of the book then overdue period can be considered as rent period and special rent i.e., Rs.40/- per month will be charged from student.
5. Use of Books
  • The book or books loaned from the Book Bank must be used by the borrowers themselves and not further lent out to others. Books issued to the members are non-transferable.
6. Replacement of Books
  • If a book is lost or mutilated by the borrower he would be required to pay its current price plus a fine of Rs.100/- per book. If the current price is not available the price of the book given in the library record will be charged as double or Librarian will assess the value/cost of the material. However, preference will be given to replace the material.
7. Clearance
  • The examination results/degree of the students not clearing their account with the Book Bank shall be with held by the University until they obtain clearance from the Incharge, Book Bank. Final clearance will be considered after the completion of the tenure of the study programme.
8. Dublicate Card
  • The duplicate card for Book Bank shall be issued on payment of Rs.250/- to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

B. Library Rules Regarding Circulation Desk

  • Two books at a time can be issued to undergraduate students for one week.
  • Four books at a time can be issued to postgraduate students for 14 days.
  • Faculty member can draw only six books from the Library in a semester. He will however, return the books on the expiry of semester when he will get the new books issued for the next semester. Books can not be transferred to any other member of the library.
  • Textbooks, recommended books and reference books may be issued for overnight only with the permission of the Librarian.
  • Books of which only single copies are available, volumes of periodicals and thesis, reports may be issued for three days under the special permission of the Librarian.
  • General/Special delay fine will be charged from students keeping the book or books beyond the prescribed period at the rate of Rs.5/- per day per book.   • The duplicate card for Library shall be issued on payment of Rs.250/- to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Note:
  • Record of the amount of fine, duplicate cards fee, price of lost book, membership fee, fine regarding combine study, use of mobile, misuse of internet and binding charges of mutilated books received from the students be allowed to deposit through receipt book at the circulation desk of the Library like Book Bank.
  • These rules will also be observed for postgraduate students in case, they are faculty members.

    1. The printed matter, books, journals, reports, etc., carrying the face value in foreign currency shall be charge at the current conversion rate at circulation desk.
    2. In case of thesis etc. which are not priced publications, photocopying charges according to the market rate will be received plus binding charges.
    3. In case of the staff member for lost of card, duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs.50/-

C. Library Rules Regarding Computer Section, GIC & IRC Labs

  • Rs.10/- per hour will be charged in GIC & IRC Computer Labs.
  • Rs.5/- per page will be charged for printing in GIC & IRC Computer Labs.
  • Rs.5/- per picture will be charged for scanning.

D. Miscellaneous Library Rules

Prohibition Of Mobile Phones, Combine Study, Pilferage Of Library Material, Misuse Of Internet And Binding Charges
  • The use of mobile phone in the premises of library is strictly prohibited. If any student is found using mobile in the library a fine of Rs.300 /- will be charged from him/her.
  • The Combine study of males and females in the premises of library is not allowed. The defaulters will be charged a fine of Rs.200/- each.
  • Pilferage of Library Material:
    If any student is found in pilfering of library material, he will have to pay the fine equal to current price of the book(s) and journal etc.
    AND
    He may be kept on probation for 1 or 2 semester(s)
    OR
    His Library/Book Bank membership can be cancelled for one/two semester(s).
    OR
    Expulsion of a student from the University for one/two semester(s) according to loss of library material.
  • Misuse of Internet: If any student is found in visiting porn websites on his laptop in the Library or computer in the GIC/IRC labs., a fine of Rs.500/- will be charged from him/her.
  • Fine regarding mutilated books: If any borrower returned the library book etc. which is mutilated but repairable, binding charges i.e., Rs.100/- for hard binding and Rs.50/- for card binding will be charged from the borrower.
Delay fine to staff/faculty members
  • The delay fine will be charged from staff/faculty members keeping the book or books beyond the prescribed period at the rate of Rs.10/- per day per book. If a book is lost by the borrower he would be required to pay the current price plus a fine of Rs.10/- per book per day.
  • In future, no reminder for return of overdue books will be sent to the borrower as it is his/her own responsibility to return the book(s) before the due date.
  • No book(s) will be issued to the student if the price of the book(s) is higher than the library security i.e., Rs.10000/-. If any student wants to get book(s) beyond the library security he/she will submit a CDR from any bank equal to price of the book(s) in the name of the Principal Officer (Library), University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. This CDR will be returned to the student after returning of book(s) issued to him/her. If any student left the university without getting clearance from the Library and books are due against him/her, the price of the lost book(s) will be recovered from his/her library security/CDR. Meanwhile the new library rules regarding library security, issuance of books, fine etc., will be followed as such.
  • Book(s) will be issued to non-member University employee (regular/retired) for 15 days in special case and library rules will be applied in this regard. Copy of his/her national ID card/service card will be required.
  • If price of the lost book(s) is deposited by the borrower, the book will be written off from the library record by the Librarian/Principal Officer (Library).
  • No library card will be issued without student registration number.
